“All that Glitters…Deception”
Created 2015
Mixed Media / Jewelry
18”x 14”
Price: $3,200
This piece depicts a character of modern human existence…the belief that we are entitled to “something better” … sometimes without good cause. Following the calls of a charismatic leader, whose only appeal is a visual facade, the crowd of people blindly follow the winding road leading only to the promise of eternal wealth, health and youth not realizing, in reality, the road is a snake winding through an unknown path. Our culture’s narcissistic belief in entitlement can be our inevitable downfall which can only result in actualizing the deception of “All that Glitters…”.
The process is entirely wire wrap encapsulating; vintage, recycled and salvaged materials with base metal wire…all of which exemplify my philosophy that true beauty can only be understood through a transition from imperfection.
“Undisclosed Temptation”
Created 2016
Mixed Media Jewelry
18”x 14”
Price: $3,200
We all shelter secret desires that remain hidden in our mental closets. This piece depicts a scene in which Adam and Eve both divert their temptations away from the apple “before” it is eaten. The tempting ripe apples are falling from the tree yet neither one is paying attention. Absorbed in the vibrant beauty and allure of the paradise, Adam is secretly lusting over Eve and Eve is lusting only for the red shoes hanging from the tree branches.
The process is entirely wire wrap; encapsulating vintage, recycled and salvaged materials with base metal wire…all of which exemplify my philosophy that true beauty can only be understood through a transition from imperfection.
“Deliver Us from Evil”
Created 2016
Mixed Media Jewelry
18”x 14”
Price: $3,200
Our eternal human struggles between good and evil are represented in this piece by babies trying to identify the existent subversive elements. There is suggested “good” masquerading by non-descript representations of “evil” positioned only in the shadows. The baby, innocently sitting on the hippo’s head and protected by the umbrella from the environmental elements, is beginning life’s journey blessed by the priest’s hand only to assume the false sense of security provided by the many symbolic spiritual icons. This is leaving all the babies too vulnerable and confused, to know which icon to follow…thus in all the human induced chaos, the babies choose to escape before it’s too late believing in only luck to carry them through their life’s journey.
The process is entirely wire wrap; encapsulating vintage, recycled and salvaged materials with base metal wire…all of which exemplify my philosophy that true beauty can only be understood through a transition from imperfection
