Furniture Exchange and Revamp Next Phase Updates 2018<\/a><\/span><\/h1>\n

We officially launched Phase II of our “Furniture Exchange and Revamp” with the opening of our second offsite location: “Studio Blue at Construction Junction”\u00a0a fully functioning community service site operating two days a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0We service\u00a0youth\u00a0from Holy Family Academy and\u00a0Shuman\u00a0Center on Tuesdays.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n

    \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0We service youth from\u00a0Shuman\u00a0Center on Saturdays.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The studio is youth driven and our professional resident painters proudly fulfill\u00a0 their job descriptions and studio operational responsibilities.\u00a0The experience affords them opportunities to acquire various skills to include:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    * Education on the importance of reuse and recycling (i.e furniture).<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    * Development of the studio setting with\u00a0\u201cRules of Participation\u00a0and Conduct\u201d.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    * Manufacturing of a sell-able revamped product.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    * Painting and design skills.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    * Set up, operation and the management of a small business.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    * Price setting driven by the resale market.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    * Effective advertising skills.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    * Sales \/ customer service skills.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    * Inventory and bookkeeping.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    * Instructional skills to new youth participants and adult workshop\u00a0attendees.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    * Event representation such as at the\u00a0Grand Opening Furniture Sale, T<\/em>he\u00a0Reuse Festival<\/em>\u00a0and anywhere else we appear.<\/strong><\/h3>\n
