Furniture Exchange and Revamp Opens a Second Studio Site! “Studio Blue At Construction Junction”

Furniture Exchange and Revamp Next Phase Updates 2018

We officially launched Phase II of our “Furniture Exchange and Revamp” with the opening of our second offsite location: “Studio Blue at Construction Junction” a fully functioning community service site operating two days a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

  •      We service youth from Holy Family Academy and Shuman Center on Tuesdays.

  •      We service youth from Shuman Center on Saturdays.

The studio is youth driven and our professional resident painters proudly fulfill  their job descriptions and studio operational responsibilities. The experience affords them opportunities to acquire various skills to include:

* Education on the importance of reuse and recycling (i.e furniture).

* Development of the studio setting with “Rules of Participation and Conduct”.

* Manufacturing of a sell-able revamped product.

* Painting and design skills.

* Set up, operation and the management of a small business.

* Price setting driven by the resale market.

* Effective advertising skills.

* Sales / customer service skills.

* Inventory and bookkeeping.

* Instructional skills to new youth participants and adult workshop attendees.

* Event representation such as at the Grand Opening Furniture Sale, The Reuse Festival and anywhere else we appear.

We invite all youth and youth groups from various settings.
